Supportive Couples Therapy in Greenwich, Blackheath, South East | Online & In person

Feeling Stuck, Disconnected, or Caught in the Same Arguments?

When communication breaks down, trust feels strained, or the same conflicts keep repeating, relationships can start to feel exhausting and confusing. You may feel distant from one another, misunderstood, or unsure how to move forward.

I offer couples therapy in person (SE3), as well as online couples therapy across the UK, providing a supportive space where you can slow things down, feel heard, and better understand what’s happening between you.

Couples Therapy That Is Not About Blame

A common worry is that couples therapy will turn into deciding who is “right” or “wrong”, or rehashing arguments without resolution.

Couples therapy is not about blame or taking sides. Instead, it focuses on:

  • Understanding patterns that keep you stuck

  • Improving communication and emotional safety

  • Helping both partners feel heard and understood

The aim is to create a calmer, more compassionate space where change feels possible  even if things currently feel strained or uncertain.

How Couples Therapy Can Help?

Couples seek therapy for many different reasons. You may recognise some of the following:

  • Ongoing arguments or communication breakdowns

  • Feelings of distance, disconnection, or resentment

  • Trust issues or difficulty rebuilding closeness

  • Challenges following life changes (parenthood, illness, relocation)

  • Repeating patterns that feel hard to shift

  • Difficulty understanding each other’s needs or emotional responses

Couples therapy offers a structured, supportive environment to explore these challenges together and develop healthier ways of relating and responding to one another.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

I work using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) alongside a person-centred, collaborative approach.

EFT is a well-researched model that helps couples understand emotional patterns, reduce conflict, and strengthen emotional bonds. Therapy focuses on what happens underneath arguments — such as unmet needs, fears, and attempts to protect the relationship — rather than surface-level blame.

Sessions are:

  • Collaborative and non-judgemental

  • Structured, yet flexible

  • Guided by your pace and goals

Where helpful, I may also draw on CBT-informed approaches, particularly when unhelpful thinking patterns, emotional reactions, or behavioural cycles are affecting the relationship.

What to Expect in Couples Therapy

Couples therapy sessions provide space for both partners to be heard, with attention given to each person’s experiences and perspectives.

Together, we’ll:

  • Explore how current patterns developed

  • Understand what may be maintaining difficulties

  • Identify small, manageable steps towards change

Some couples attend therapy to work through a specific issue, while others use sessions to build stronger communication and emotional connection over time. The pace and focus of therapy are guided collaboratively.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are available in person at Mycenae House, Greenwich (SE3) or online, depending on what feels most accessible for you.

Couples Therapy in Greenwich, Blackheath & Online

In-person couples therapy sessions take place at Mycenae House in Greenwich (SE3), making them easily accessible for couples in Greenwich, Blackheath, Charlton, Lewisham, Wider South East London.

For couples who prefer flexibility or are based elsewhere in the UK, online couples therapy is also available, allowing you to attend sessions from a familiar and comfortable environment.

Is Couples Therapy Right for Us?

Couples therapy may be helpful if:

  • You’re stuck in the same arguments and don’t know how to break the cycle

  • You feel emotionally distant but want to reconnect

  • One or both of you feels unheard or misunderstood

  • You’re unsure whether the relationship can improve but want clarity

  • You want to strengthen communication before things deteriorate further

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from couples therapy — and it’s okay if one or both of you feels unsure. Many couples begin therapy feeling ambivalent; exploring this together can be a valuable part of the process.

How Many Sessions Will We Need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your situation and goals. As a general guideline, 6–20 sessions can be helpful.

Some couples attend therapy short-term to address a specific concern, while others choose ongoing support to deepen understanding and strengthen their relationship. This is discussed openly and reviewed as therapy progresses.
